Despite the city’s rather distant proximity to the star ingredient, clambakes remain one of the most beloved events around. For $25, enjoy one dozen clams, sweet Ohio corn, sea salt-crusted baked potato and choice of chicken or the wildly popular smoked brisket. Be sure to save room for dessert, like the Blue Canyon s’mores, a Graham cracker crust filled with chocolate and peanut ganach and topped with a housemade marshmallow.
Melange
2101 Richmond Rd. - BeachwoodBeginning Sept. 18 and lasting every Friday until the end of October, Mélange might be offering the best clambake deal in town. For $19, enjoy one dozen clams, mussels, corn chowder, sweet corn, roasted potatoes and sausage plus jalapeno corn bread. For an additional $6, add a half-roasted chicken. Also on Fridays, enjoy live music and the new addition of (daily) wine flights covering almost every varietal.
Touch Supper Club
2710 Lorain Ave. - ClevelandSaturday, Oct. 10 (possibility may run all Saturdays in October): The Ohio City hot spot, known for its swanky brunch, earned the respect among foodies for its take on the traditional clambake last year. This year they are back and may even extend the feast throughout the month (call for details). For $24, enjoy two dozen little neck clams (a half-roasted or barbecue chicken may be substituted), corn, potatoes, clam chowder, rolls and strawberry shortcake to top it all off. For an additional $10, add a lobster to your dinner. Look for fall beer specials, too.

Saturday, Oct. 10: Tremont’s famous Eastern European cafeteria, known for its pierogies and other comfort food staples, is offering a clambake for $30. Feast on one dozen clams, half a chicken, corn chowder, clam broth, corn, potatoes or pierogies and choice of dessert. For $35, you can opt for steak instead of chicken.
