Food
You won’t find many restaurants that feature two full pages of appetizers. As Biri explains, “mezza” is an important part of Lebanese meals, and it’s not unusual for people to split several appetizers over the course of an hour or two before moving on to the main courses. Taza also offers an expansive selection of salads, sandwiches and entrées, along with quite a few vegetarian options.
Some of the most popular menu items include the light but filling Phoenician chicken salad, as well as the mixed grill plates, which include roasted vegetables, Lebanese rice and your choice of chicken, lamb or beef skewers. Both the meat and vegetables are grilled perfectly, and spices such as nutmeg, thyme and cinnamon jump out at you. Both tahini and garlic sauces accompany many dishes, but beware: the garlic sauce is potent enough to clear your sinuses for a month.
