Dianna's
While My Friend's has gone diner-world upscale, with its smooth woodwork and recessed lighting, Dianna's has held onto its old-world hardscrabble charm. The main dining area (where one smoked, in the days before The Persecution began) is knee-touchingly cozy, and the deli case up front serves as a reminder that you're not going home without packing on an extra two pounds. Anything Greek, such as gyros and feta cheese omelets, are highly recommended. Dianna's high-octane coffee only adds to the late-night weekend rush, when revelers of every shape and size holler out their orders to frantic waitresses. Sometimes Friday nights feel like you're in a Vietnam war movie—so thick is the air, and so prevalent are the jungles of plastic plant life.
