Co-owner Cole Davis has been selling wines for 20 years, so what Chef V brings to the food selection, Cole brings to the drink menu. Split evenly between American and European wines, Americano selects what to serve based off of balance and drinkability.
“You want to find something that’s fresh, tastes good with food, makes the food taste better, and the food makes the wine taste better,” Davis said.
Davis prefers to keep the cocktail list simple, but delicious. Including everything from martinis to margaritas, Davis said he wanted the drink menu to reflect the feel of the restaurant and the building, which is a classic, simple elegance. That is not to say he won’t be open to trying something new. He actually likes to pull in items from all different countries.
Davis keeps a few good quality vodkas rather than hundreds of varieties.
“What makes us successful is that we don’t have a huge assortment of things, but when we do bring something in, we try to make it the best,” he said.
Beer is no exception. Since Americano prides itself on the handcrafted foods, they also concentrate on handcrafted beers. Domestic microbeers are the preference.
