G. Love & Special Sauce
April 9, 2009
The highly funky G. Love & Special Sauce's combination of hip hop and blues kept its fans entertained from start to finish Thursday night at the House of Blues. Rapping, scatting and rocking out simutaneously on the guitar and harmonica, G (Garrett Dutton) and the band had the jam-packed venue dancing and singing along to an astonishingly high energy 90-minute set.
Performing crowd favorites "Booty Call," and "Baby's Got Sauce," the group mixed it up with its own version of Snoop Dogg's "Gin and Juice." It wouldn't be a G. Love show without ending the concert with "I Like Cold Beverages," the group's first single back in the mid-90s that catapulted the Philadelphia-based band to musical stardom. More than a decade later, G and his crew are still rocking at an energy level of 100.
Cheers to you G.
