Q&A: Lawless

Lawless is known around Cleveland as the hardest-working country band in the area. With five years of nonstop performances under their belt, these guys have an ever-growing fan base that includes the likes of Dwight Yoakam and Gretchen Wilson. The band's first CD "Long Gone" was a huge success and fans can expect a new album as soon as they get a break from performing and from their day jobs to get back into the studio.

Where was your first performance in Cleveland?

Gee whiz, was I there? It was a private party, seven years ago in Strongsville. Over seven years, this has turned into a great event with 300-400 people attending. It's the second week of August if you want to come.

Your first CD "Long Gone" was recently released. What has that been like for you guys?

Cool! We have sold them. We have a little e-commerce page on the web site, to countries all over the world. We have shipped them out just about everywhere—even Australia. I don't think anyone in Iceland likes us yet, but we are working on it.

Are any other plans in the works for another album?

As soon as we can get together to write some new music. We have recorded two singles since our first album. We haven't gotten together to write and record more because of the whole day job. We have also been playing a lot.

Where is your favorite place to perform in Cleveland?

The House of Blues. The big room on the main stage.

Country stars such as Dierks Bentley, Gretchen Wilson and Dwight Yoakam are among your fan base. What is that like?

It's pretty cool. It's great to meet a lot of those people because people tend to idolize them. We meet them and they treat us like an equal.

What is your favorite thing about Cleveland?

The weather. I am a glutton for punishment. And the sports. The Browns for sure. I mean the Indians are pretty awesome right now.

What is your favorite bar or restaurant around Cleveland?

Yeah, that place where they serve alcohol. Slim and Chubby's is probably our favorite place.
