Week 2: August 17 - seat for Jon Favreau
Boom!
Fire and smoke filled the Cleveland sky as people desperately ran for their lives. But nobody was in any real danger. It was all for Hollywood as "The Avengers" production took a pyrotechnic turn.
Cameras rolled for the first time on E. 9th Street between Euclid and Prospect on Monday, August 15. Dozens of people excitedly sat on the side and cheered when taxi cabs started exploding and flipping into the air.
On the second day of filming, Captain America (a stunt double for Chris Evans) was in full costume fighting two bad guys on top of a car.
Thursday, August 18 brought one of the coolest scenes we've watched to date. Around 3:30 p.m., extras were running around E. 9th Street as a stunt man playing Captain America was blasted through a glass window. He landed on one of the vehicles below to a huge eruption of cheers from the crew and onlookers. Truly amazing!
Thor was spotted for the first time on Friday as he joined forces with Captain America. Meanwhile, crews set up shop on Chevrolet Blvd. in Parma for a few explosion shots.
