Boldly go where no ‘Trek’ game has gone before…on XBLA and PSN

Most video game companies would’ve jumped at the chance to make a big “Star Trek” game to correspond with the big new movie. But Paramount’s new Digital Entertainment division—who are also at work on games based on the studio’s movies “The Warriors,” “Top Gun,” and “Days of Thunder”—decided to think (relatively) small. Their approach: a retro-style arcade game based on the “Trek” movie reboot.
Dubbed “Star Trek: D-A-C,” the game is an old school, top-down shooter that will be available via download from Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and the web. Will the new game be as good as “The Wrath of Khan” or will it be more “Undiscovered Country”? See for yourself in the following screenshots. —Paul Semel, Special to Metromix
