Cleve-Lens: Turkey Trot 2011
What were you doing at early Thanksgiving morning?
More than 7,000 Clevelanders were standing at the starting line (Galleria @ Erieview) on Thursday waiting to run the 30th annual Turkey Trot. Now, if yo've never experienced the T-Trot before, this isn't just a race—it's more of a celebration.
People came from all over the area, dressed up in just about any Thanksgiving-themed costume you can imagine from pilgrim suits to turkey outfits.
The Hermes staff played the National Anthem before shooting off the starting gun, as you do with most races, but the crowd continuously chanted "U-S-A" just as the song was ending. Everyone was happy, proud to be Americans and ready to enjoy a fun run!
The one-mile race began at 8:45, the five-mile at 9:30. After the race, runners congratulated each other, danced to the music and soaked up the 50-degree sunshine on a day of giving thanks! Perfection is what the 30th annual race was.
