Running with the Santas 2011
Just under 700 Clevelanders raced through Tremont Saturday in the first ever Running with the Santas.
The one-mile race started at the North Pole (Tremont Tap House) and ended at the South Pole (The South Side). As you can imagine, everyone, and we mean everyone got creative and donned Santa outfits, Mrs. Claus costumes … one guy wrapped himself up as a present and labeled it "God’s gift to women." Some participants ran the route while singing Christmas carols, others while drinking beer.
After the so-called race, a giant post-party ensued at The South Side. Lolly the Trolley also transported people from bar to bar in the Tremont area.
Festivities began at 2 p.m. and by 7 p.m., everyone was drunk, jolly and happy, just like Santa. And even better, all proceeds from the race benefitted the Tremont West Foundation.
