Behind the screams: HalloWeekends 2011
Fog rises from the park, creatures begin their hunt to scare you and screams ooze from every corner. That's right! Cedar Point's 15th annual HalloWeekends is back.
HalloWeekends delivers a jam-packed punch when it comes to Halloween. The creepy atmosphere of the season is everywhere. Driving in along the causeway you will see spooky signs warning you to watch out for the monsters, clowns and ghosts that await your entry... and they're not joking because Cedar Point employs hundreds of actors specifically for the haunted attractions. In addition to the haunted hearse at the front gates, there are gobs of gravestones, hundreds of pumpkins and thousands of cornstalks scattered throughout America's Roller Coast.
Once night falls, Cedar Point starts its terrifying transition as crazed monsters fill 10 differently themed haunted attractions. New for 2011 are a pair of outdoor haunts—Blood on the Bayou and Maniacal Mechanical Screamworks. Blood on the Bayou takes you below the path of the Iron Dragon, while Screamworks is the re-themed Fright Zone from years before along the Frontier Trail. There are four other outdoor haunted attractions: Terror Island, CarnEvil, Fear Faire and CornStalkers.
If all that wasn't enough to make you scream, HalloWeekends drags the scare factor higher with four indoor haunted houses: G.A. Boeckling's Eerie Estate, Club Blood, Eternity Infirmary and Happy Jack's Toy Factory.
There are also a variety of live shows to check out and spooky-themed restaurants.
Oh yeah, there are the award-winning roller coasters and record-setting rides to scare you, too.
