Great Lakes Burning River Fest 2009
August 15, 2009
Who says something bad can't turn into something good? In 1969, the Cuyahoga River caught on fire (one of several times, but the most well-known occurrence). Through that infamous moment in history came a stronger focus on water pollution control and one incredible Great Lakes beer (Burning River Pale Ale).
Forty years later, Clevelanders continued to commemorate that day with the Great Lakes Burning River Fest. Sponsored by the Great Lakes Brewing Company, festival-goers enjoyed delicious beer, local and organic food, and live music to go along with gorgeous summer weather Saturday at Whiskey Island, all in support of the sustainability of our waterways.
