Relaxed, safe neighborhood bar
By Kellie Love, Special to Metromix
Tucked away in the back of a Bainbridge plaza is a quiet, little, unassuming bar. At about 8 p.m. on a Saturday, I brought my huge appetite to a spot called The Sports Page Tavern. Upon first sight, I noticed that there was no huge lit sign to identify its presence, but just simple lettering I observed the closer I drove to the entrance. Another wooden sign hung just above the main door to confirm it.
Truth be told, I almost overlooked the place altogether. Not sure of whether or not it was open, I decided to take a step inside. Rather empty, I asked the bartender when the place became busy and she informed me that 11 p.m. was the magic hour. In the quiet of the room, I was able to take in my full experience.
