Bottom line
Every January Spitfire rings in the New Year with an unusual tradition. The bar emerges as its alter ego, the Hulett, for the duration of the month. The Hulett automatic ore unloader was invented by George Hulett of Ohio in the late 1800s; And just as this machine specialized in heavy metal, so does the Spitfire…err Hulett. That means all-metal jukebox and only metal bands. For those who don’t posess quite that much anger, the mini-Spitfire will also open at 10:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays in the basement.
This bar has achieved cult following status, but for most is just the dark, dingy, oddly painted house with the torsos in the attic. Learn from the regulars … reject the mainstream and enjoy what the Garage Bar tries to be, but the Spitfire achieves.
