Clubs and lounges abound on West 6th, but recently, the Warehouse District welcomed a neighbor that’s a little more down to earth (or is it down to turf?) Bob Golic’s Bar & Grille, the newest addition to one of Cleveland’s most popular nighttime destinations, is named of course, after the former Cleveland Browns player known for his impressive football feats, outstandingly coiffed mullet and starring role on “Saved by the Bell: The College Years.” We wish our college R.A. was as cool as Mike Rogers.
Décor: The 5,000-square-foot space is decorated with Browns paraphernalia, but done in a way that is clean and interesting, not cluttered and overwhelming. An industrial style interior paired with clean wooden floors gives it a fresh vibe. The bar and tables located throughout the venue are topped with various Browns memorabilia including articles and pictures displayed under glass. Ample seating, 20 big screen TVs, a projector and a radio transmission area where Golic can do live broadcasts set the stage for a perfect place to be on any given Sunday.
Drinks: Featuring at least 20 specialty drafts and local brews, the large, wooden, rectangular bar provides the perfect celebratory gathering spot ... or comforting safe haven should the Browns take a turn for the worse. A fully stocked bar loaded with every flavor of Three Olives you could ask for, a gigantic bottle of J.D. and quality wines will keep you quenched (and possibly numb) well past halftime.
Food: Think bar food on steroids. Onion rings are a favorite on the menu, served with a side of avocado and chipotle mayonnaise. There’s a large appetizer selection along with the basic sandwiches, burger and salads. Golic’s steps it up by also offering more substantial fare such as seafood, steaks and chops. From filets to flatbreads you’ll definitely find more than a few things to keep you satisfied during the game.
Music: The usual Top 40 playlist. On weekends and game days expect lots of barking, along with Golic’s radio show.
Crowd: During the week you’re likely to find the general after work crowd and weekends draw in a mixed crowd. You’ll be surrounded by Browns fans for the most part, so you know you’re in good company.
Insider Tips: Not only will you find Bob Golic himself there on weekends, but chances are very high that you’ll run into a bunch of other local celebrities too.
Bottom Line: This football oriented venue is designed to not only be one of the best places in Cleveland to pre-game, watch or celebrate a Cleveland victory, but to also serve as a high quality bar and restaurant on non-game days.
